Featuring Songs and Instrumental Works by Composer/Pianist Robert Bruce

A program showcasing the haunting and beautifully set modern artsongs of composer/pianist Robert Bruce, Songs of Human and Divine Love explores through music, words, dance, technology and other mediums in a live performance setting what romance and spirituality have in common and at times transcends the boundaries that traditionally separate them. Based primarily on aesthetics, or joy and beauty for their own sakes, this program flows like a summer cloud through the featured songs and dreamy instrumental interludes with elegant, sensuous and slow-moving pose and dance sequences, projected imagery and special lighting, costumes and set design.

Songs of Human and Divine Love is the centerpiece and very essence of Robert Bruce's CLASSICAL NOUVEAU program series. The sounds, words, images, motions, poses, atmospheres and special effects in this program have a subtle but decided tendency to warm the heart, lift the spirit, spark the imagination, stir the creative urge and convey a sense of serenity to all those - performers and audience members alike - who share in this live multimedia/multidisciplinary concert experience. As one audience member put it “There is a continuous flame burning throughout the entire program.”

The Songs of Human and Divine Love programs use various combinations of piano, percussion, 1-3 female voices (soprano, mezzo and alto), 1- 5 dancers and/or models, original artwork, projected images and special lighting, costumes and set design. Program can also include 1 - 12 string players and up to 5 woodwind players.
